felt intimidated throughout my time of working for sainsburys [Nov. 6th, 2014|09:38 am]
The Workers of Sainsbury's
Ok, been there on nightshift for nearly six months, started well, one manager was fantastic, the other was ok, had heard she wadnt nice by other colleagues but i take ppl as ibgind them and dont get caught up in gossip. First manager left, everything changed. The remaining manager started to show her true colours and i knew why ppl had warned me about her. A second manager joinef, he was just as condiscending, pilling on 'overs' on top of delivery, speaking to staff, including myself like we are nothing, as does the other manager. You feel you are not valued, although they make out you are when you really know its just to show sm they praise us. You feel like a kid all of the time and are treated like you have no brain. I had a run in with another colleague because i saw another colleague doing absolutely nothing which was putting pressure on the rest of us. I was shouted at and told im band 2, its nothing to do with me and i have no business helping the shift run smoothly. Since then, she had another go at me and i was nearly suspended because of her actions. Feel like im waiting for to fly off the handle at me again at any moment. Others hate me, i think its because i smile and thats no joke. Others spread gossip about me, its ridiculous. Wanted to hand my notice in yesterday, hr wasnt in and was forced by other higher ranked employees to tell sm why i want to leave. He defended the managers and told me he will tell them what ive said. Now im too scared to go in tonight, i feel im on the verge of a panic attack. If anyone has any advice, please help. I dont want to return. One last thing, weve lost at least 2 ppl in the last minth because of same reason, they walked out.

Switching store [Oct. 17th, 2014|02:47 am]
The Workers of Sainsbury's
Good to join!

It's joined sainsburys and been here 4 weeks. Another store closer to me has just advertised hours that suit me better. Can I change store this early in my employment? Is it frowned upon? Will my manager get sh*tty about it.

The Workers of Sainsbury's
Hi everyone!
I've applied for night shifts over Christmas. Does anyone know what the night shift hours will be on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve? Am I likely to be working overnight on those days?
Thanks :)

The Workers of Sainsbury's

Forgot to add this to my post below, do Sainsburys pay early at Christmas, I know the next pay date after the 29th of November is the 27th December, but I was wondering because its Christmas if Sainsbury's will pay before the 25th December?

Pay [Nov. 17th, 2013|08:22 pm]
The Workers of Sainsbury's
Hi all,

Just wondering whether anyone knows if Sainsbury's pay a month in hand, or whether I will get paid at the end of the 4 week period straight away?

Also does anyone know when the next pay date is?

Thanks in advance!

Help/Advice needed please! Newbie. [Aug. 23rd, 2013|05:44 pm]
The Workers of Sainsbury's
Hiiii all
I'm completely new to this so please bare with me! :)
Need some advice please.
Applied for job at Sainsburys. Job description stated permanent 32hrs pw.
Got through to interview. Got a message saying I was successful! Over the moon. However....the man at HR then tells me I'm not successful for this particular role, but I can take another role if I choose. That's fine, I don't mind the new role instead. But....the new role is only 16hrs pw. I need 32hrs really, but there are o more vacancies above 16hrs. What advice I need please is are they likely to offer me more hours in terms of regular overtime or even increase my contract? It's a new store, not open yet. I am looking to work for them but understandably need more hours to live on.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance x

Meantine I am going to Helston branch (about 10 miles away) for a two day induction next week.
Can anyone tell me what to expect during the two day induction?

Holidays/hours/benefits [May. 11th, 2013|03:16 pm]
The Workers of Sainsbury's
Hi everyone
I have been working for sainsburys for 6 months now on the night shift. Firstly I always have problems booking holiday. I complete a holiday form and hand it too my manager who says they will deal with it later. So I leave it 3 weeks I check the schedule and my holiday wasn't on there so I checked with HR and they hadn't even received my form. So I came into work as normal on my next shift when the manager asked me what I was doing their as i should be on holiday! So I said I had checked etc before my last shift and itbhadn't been agreed. The manager said it had well I know he was lieing as I checked myself. Anyway said he would resecdule and I'm still waiting another 4 weeks later. Every time I ask I'm told that he will look at it later. I can never book holidays without it being a hassle.

Hours Alot of people are always asked if they want overtime but very rare I am asked. When I ask if there is any and I'm told no. I then later find out that the manager has given overtime to other people its so frustrating. I feel like the manager favours certain people and they get everything.

Can I change the days I work and how do I go about it? Maybe go on to day shift?

I would like too know how and if I can join the share scheme, i am part-time and I have never been told about the benefits I can join.

Many thanks in advance.
